Messi Didn’t Deserve To Win Ballon d’Or Over Haaland – Singer Bayanni

Nigerian singer, Oladokun Abimbola Elijah aka Bayanni has expressed his opinion after Argentine footballer, Lionel Messi won the 2023 men’s Ballon d’Or.

Bayanni said Messi didn't do enough to deserve the award over Haaland.

Recall that Messi saw off competition from Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and others to win a record-extending eighth award.

Reacting in a recent interview with Cool FM Nigeria, Lagos, Bayanni said the Inter Miami player didn’t do enough to win the award, arguing that a lot of other players have won the World Cup in the past and weren’t handed the Ballon d’Or.

He said, “Based on what I’ve been hearing from people, Messi won the Ballon d’Or because he won the World Cup. But many people collected World Cup trophies in the past and they didn’t win the Ballon d’Or.

“What I’m saying is that it should have been Haaland or somebody else but not Messi.”
