Ballon d’Or: Messi to break two records by winning award

Inter Miami superstar, Lionel Messi is set to become the first footballer playing outside of Europe to win the Ballon d’Or.

Messi, who left Paris Saint-Germain in the summer as a free agent, is widely expected to win the prize on Monday evening in Paris.

The 36-year-old has already won it seven times in the past, more than any other player.

He will become the first footballer to take it home for the eighth time.

The crowning moment of Messi’s illustrious career came in 2022, when he led Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar.

Messi will beat the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to the prize.
