Roma will have to pay £37million to Chelsea if they want to sign Romelu Lukaku on a permanent deal next summer, the Daily Mail reports.
Lukaku is currently on loan with the Serie A side and has scored seven goals in his eight appearances in all competitions.
Having made a fine start to life under Jose Mourinho, Roma could explore how to retain the Belgian.
It is understood that Chelsea inserted a £37m release clause into his contract when they negotiated a £5m loan fee with the Italian side.
The Blues had been intent on selling the 30-year-old this summer, until Lukaku turned down a move to Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
He also effectively sabotaged a switch to Inter Milan and then decided he did not want to join Juventus.
