EPL: He’s looking sharp – Alan Shearer on Arsenal star

Newcastle United legend, Alan Shearer has said that Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is looking ‘sharp’ once again after his recent short period with injury.

Jesus injured his knee while on international duty with Brazil’s national team last December, which compelled Arsenal to sign Leandro Trossard from Brighton & Hove Albion in January.

At the start of the 2023/24 season, the Brazilian was once again sidelined for a brief period after undergoing knee surgery.

Jesus has since returned to first-team action and featured in all of Arsenal’s last four games across competitions.

The former Manchester City star was handed his first start of the season in the UEFA Champions League group-stage opener against PSV Eindhoven on 20 September.

He put his name on the scoresheet in the 38th minute as Mikel Arteta’s side thrashed PSV 4-0 at Emirates Stadium.

“He [Jesus] is back, he is looking sharp, he is looking fresh, and I think Arsenal have got a really, really good squad,” Shearer told ‘The Rest is Football’ podcast (h/t HITC).

Jesus will hope to lead Arsenal to victory when they host Tottenham this weekend in a Premier League derby.
