UCL: They can beat anyone – Bent names surprise team to challenge Man City for trophy

Former Tottenham Hotspur star, Darren Bent has identified Arsenal to challenge defending champions Manchester City for the UEFA Champions League trophy this season.

Bent believes Arsenal can beat any team, including Real Madrid, in the Champions League this season

Arsenal are in Group B of this season’s Champions League alongside Lens, Sevilla and PSV.

The Gunners got off to a perfect start in the Champions League with a confident 4-0 win against Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven.

“I think we (Arsenal) can, why not? For me, City are still the team to beat. But I fancy Arsenal to get a result against anyone else. Real Madrid, yep,” Bent told talkSPORT.

“When it’s a cup competition, I think there is a little bit of luck involved as well. You are not gonna have Real Madrid and City, sometimes you have a bit of a weaker side.”

He added, “(Arteta’s) learnt from his mistakes. I think he is getting better and better and every manager has to start somewhere don’t they?

“I understand that (it is a big ask for Arsenal to win the UCL) but Leicester won the Premier League. Stranger things have happened… There is no reason why they can’t.”
