Presidential amnesty programme unveils aviation training for ex-agitators

The Presidential Amnesty Programme has launched the Aviation Resuscitation Programme for Cadet Pilots and Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, reinforcing its commitment to creating sustainable livelihoods for ex-agitators and nurturing a skilled workforce for Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The Interim Administrator of PAP, Major General Barry Ndiomu (retd.), who inaugurated the program in Lagos on Tuesday, emphasised the vast opportunities that await the beneficiaries in the global aviation industry.

Ndiomu, represented by the Head of Reintegration, Wilfred Musa, acknowledged past efforts to revamp training programs and also noted challenges due to administrative issues and the complexity of the aviation industry.

He highlighted that the recent launch of the program, which had been in the works for over eight years, underscores the current PAP leadership’s dedication to improving the lives of ex-agitators.

Recognizing the aviation sector’s pivotal role in commerce, Ndiomu described the aviation industry as a “touch point for commerce in any country.”

Ndiomu encouraged aviation stakeholders to take note of the program and explore the potential of the skilled workforce it will generate for the industry.

“Take note of the program and begin to look towards leveraging on the enormous pool of skilled manpower that the program will produce for the aviation industry,” he said.

Ndiomu cautioned the beneficiaries to imbibe the act of discipline throughout their learning process and urged beneficiaries to elevate their thinking and discard any sense of entitlement.
