Abide by regulations, Oyetola urges maritime stakeholders

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has urged maritime stakeholders in the member states of Abuja MoU to keep their domain safe and abide by all regulations.

Oyetola, according to a statement signed by the Assistant Director, Public Relations of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Osagie Edward, on Friday, made the appeal during the 13th Port State Control Committee Meeting of the Abuja MoU Port State Control for West and Central African Region hosted by the Government of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire in Abidjan.

He said, “There is the need for regulators and stakeholders in the member states to ensure their maritime domains remain safe, secure and environmentally friendly.

The Director-General, NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh, noted that NIMASA had ensured the ratification of not less than six international maritime conventions for proper governance of the country’s maritime space.
