Alake @80: TRACE alerts on traffic diversion

***as Oba Gbadebo urges Nigerians on regular medical checkups

As the grand finale of the 80th birthday of Alake, the Paramount ruler of Egba land, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, holds today, Thursday, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, has said that as part of measures to control the heavy human and vehicular movement around Ake Palace, there will be traffic diversion from 7 am starting from Ake Roundabout to Isale-Ake, Abeokuta.

According to a statement on Wednesday from the Public Relations Officer of TRACE, Commander Babatunde Akinbiyi, the traffic diversion would start from 7 a.m. as traffic inbound Ake Roundabout towards Ake Palace from Sapon and Ijemo-Agbadu would be cordoned off and diverted to Itoko and Mokola axis to continue their journey from there.

The statement partly reads, “Similarly, by 0700hrs, traffic inbound Isale-Ake enroute Ake Palace from Adatan and Iyana-Lantoro will be diverted to Oke-Ejigbo inbound Ijaiye to continue their journey from there.

“However, members of the public who have no business at Ake Palace on the said date for the day’s events should avoid the axis.

“Nevertheless, TRACE, as well as other security operatives will be deployed along the alternative routes to ensure effective and integrated traffic management to limit delay and traffic congestion.”

While pleading with members of the public and road users for their understanding and cooperation for any inconveniences this might cause, TRACE assures that the strategy put in place would minimize delay and guarantee orderliness.

Meanwhile, the royal father, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, on Wednesday reiterated his medical and mental stability at a medical outreach organised to commemorate his birthday.

The monarch who took time out to get checked during the medical outreach organised as part of activities marking his 80th birthday urged Nigerians to always get routine checkups to avoid any unforeseen ailments.

“For an 80-year-old, I am medically fit, physically alert, and mentally first class.

“Many of our people, if they don’t undergo regular medical checkups, wouldn’t know they are just moving corpses

“But they check themselves regularly, they will be able to be told what to treat at a particular point in time.

“So, I will advise our people to always go out, check themselves and treat accordingly to forestall any untimely death”, the monarch said.

The Aro of Egbaland, Chief Yinka Kufile, had earlier in the day led other Egba Chiefs to Stella Obasanjo Orphanage Home, GRA Ibara, Abeokuta and Neuropsychiatric Hospital Lantoro, Abeokuta to present foodstuff, beverages, toiletries among others to the people.

He said the philanthropic gesture was part of the programme lined up to celebrate Alake, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo at 80.
