Andrea Botez was born Andrea Cecilia Cristina Botez on April 6, 2002, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Her parents are originally from Romania before they changed location to give the family a better lifestyle. Her father who introduced his daughters to chess, was an engineer. Her elder sister Alexandra was born in Dallas, Texas, United States, before she was moved to Vancouver, British Columbia alongside her parents. Andrea attended a public school for her education.

Career

Andrea began playing chess at the age of six after having so much passion for it. She was able to develop her skills by joining The Romanian Community Centre Chess Club, Golden Knights.

Andrea and her sister Alexandra worked together on BotezLive, a chess show in which they stream chess games. As an accomplished chess player, she and her sister launched the chess show on Twitch and YouTube for the purpose of entertaining their followers.

They have over 500,000 subscribers on their YouTube channel and more than 900,000 followers on their Twitch account.

They uploaded their first video “GM Yoon Ludvig Hammer” on April 8, 2018. Their video “I Played Chess Hustlers in Union Square Park” had over 16 million views on their channel.
