Transfer: Igbekeme seals SD Ponferradina move

Nigeria midfielder, James Igbekeme has sealed a permanent transfer to Spanish Segunda Division side, SD Ponferradina.

Igbekeme, who joined Ponferradina from Real Zaragoza penned a two-year contract.

The 28-year-old spent the last two seasons on loan at Major League Soccer side, Columbus Crew and Polish outfit, Wislaw Krakow.

He made 96 appearances for Real Zaragoza with four goals to his game name

Igbekeme expressed his delight at starting a new adventure at Los Manos.

“My agent told me about the club’s interest, and two days later José (Sietes) called me. I think it’s a good opportunity for me, and that’s why I’m here,” he told the club’s official website.

“From the first day, all my teammates have treated me very well, and I am happy both with them and with the entire coaching staff.”
