Man Utd CEO pens open letter to fans following Mason Greenwood decision
Manchester United's CEO Richard Arnold has written an open letter to fans explaining the decision made regarding Mason Greenwood's future.
The club have confirmed that they have come to an agreement with Greenwood that the player will continue his footballing career elsewhere after an international investigation regarding rape and assault charges.
Greenwood was suspended by Man Utd in January 2022 after the player was charged with rape and assault. Charges were then dropped in February 2023 due to what the Crown Prosecution cited as "a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction".
A statement regarding the decision on Greenwood's future confirmed that the parties had "mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford". 90min reported in early July that Greenwood's footballing future could lie in Serie A with Atalanta, with the Bergamo club holding talks over a potential loan deal.
The club's CEO has now penned an open letter to fans explaining the processes and ultimate decision on Greenwood's future.
