Hit the ground running, APC chieftain Adeyeye charges new ministers

A former Minister of Works and chieftain of All Progressives Congress, Senator Dayo Adeyeye has charged the 45 ministers-designate of President Bola Tinubu to live up to expectations by hitting the ground running after their inauguration.

The development is coming two days before the official inauguration of the incoming ministers at the State House in Abuja.

Adeyeye made the call when he led a delegation of his team of South West Agenda for Asiwaju on a solidarity visit to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, at the party secretariat in Abuja on Friday.

While insisting that the decision to appoint ministers and allocate portfolios remains the prerogative of the president, the former Ekiti Senator disclosed that the onus lies on the appointees to prove their mettle.

He also expressed conviction that the new APC chairman was eminently qualified for his new position given his wealth of experience and rich educational background.

“We are so elated because we know that you are eminently qualified having been the former governor of Kano State and with your wealth of experience.

“We have had occasions where Asiwaju talked a lot about your loyalty, even when you were there. It is uncommon. It’s very rare to find that kind of loyalty in this part of the world. That gives us assurance going forward that you will keep the party safe for him. Without the support of people like you, we will not be where we are.”

While receiving the delegation, the former Kano governor appreciated them for seeing the presidential vision of Tinubu to fruition.

Ganduje also disclosed that despite the teething challenges occasioned by the removal of the fuel subsidy, they are still optimistic that the president is the right man for the job.

He said, “We are happy today that our objective has been realised. We worked so hard for it. But we believe our principal is the right man that we have been yearning to mount the leadership of this country and we have succeeded in doing that. We believe Asiwaju is a man of institutions who believes in developing institutions. He is equal to the task.

“Lagos, you can say, has a high degree of sustainability. And the high degree of sustainability is not because Tinubu has been the governor for over 20 years in Lagos. He was Governor for only eight years. But of course, he developed institutions, and then he laid the foundation for sustainability for Lagos.”
