Inter Miami captain, Lionel Messi has expressed happiness after leading his team to beat Philadelphia 4-1 in Tuesday’s Leagues Cup tie at Subaru Park.

Inter Miami opened the scoring through Josef Martinez in the opening stages of the encounter before Messi doubled the lead for Gerardo Martino’s side after just 20 minutes into the clash.

Jori Alba made it 3-0 for Inter Miami before half.

However, Alejandro Bedoya scored a goal for Philadelphia in the second half before David Ruiz extended the lead for Inter Miami to ensure they qualify for the Leagues Cup final.

Inter Miami will now face Nashville in the Leagues Cup final on Sunday.

Reacting, Messi in a post via his Instagram account after the game, said: “We worked our way to the finals and we made it!!!. We’re still on the last step… ”

Messi has now scored nine goals and has provided one assist in six matches for the Miami-based club.
