Arsenal legend Paul Merson has changed his Premier League top-four prediction after Chelsea signed Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

According to him, both Liverpool and Chelsea needed the Ecuadorian after watching them face each other in their Premier League opener on Sunday.

Chelsea beat Liverpool to secure a stunning £115 million deal for Caicedo, and Merson sees the move as a game-changing transfer in the Premier League.

The former English player is now backing Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues to secure a top-four spot at the expense of Liverpool.

“Chelsea already look a hundred times better than last season, and with Moises Caicedo moving to Stamford Bridge, they’ll finish in the top four instead of Liverpool,” Merson told Sky Sports.

‘You could see in Sunday’s game that both clubs need Caicedo, and that’s why he’s going for £115m.”
