EPL: Arteta sends warning to Ramsdale as Arsenal close in on Raya transfer

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has warned goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale to expect competition as a deal for Brentford’s David Raya draws close.

Ramsdale has been the Gunners’ first-choice stopper for two seasons now.

But Arteta is keen on adding Raya to his squad before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Ramsdale pulled off two fantastic saves during 90 minutes and saved a penalty as they beat Manchester City in the Community Shield.

But when asked after the game if Ramsdale will be feeling pressure due to the Raya speculation, Arteta said: “I hope not, because the competition here always exists whoever it is and that’s what he has to feel like.

“If we don’t feel like this, we are not going to get the best out of each player, so we better feel like this and make sure that we all feel like this, me first.”
