Edo honours Odigie-Oyegun @84

The Edo State government will dedicate the John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy to honour a former governor of the state, John Odigie-Oyegun, who clocks 84 on August 12.

The Director General of JOOPSA, Imuwahen Ajoonu, disclosed this on Tuesday.

Odigie-Oyegun, a former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, was governor of Edo State between 1992 and 1993.

Ajoonu said the inauguration of the John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy marked a significant step towards the advancement of human capital development within the Edo State Public Service.

Ajoonu said, “JOOSPA has been in existence since February 2022 but the state government will officially dedicate the academy to a former governor, John Odigie-Oyegun on August 12, who the centre is named after. He clocks 84 on the same day.

“Under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki, the administration’s commitment to this objective is exemplified by the construction of a world-class training centre.”

She said JOOSPA would play a pivotal role in driving positive changes and fostering a culture of excellence in the Edo State public service.
