Access Bank rebuilds VIS office burnt during #EndSARS protest

The Lagos State Government has partnered with Access Bank Plc to rebuild the Vehicle Inspection Service office facility which was destroyed during the 2020 #EndSARS protests.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Abdulhafiz Toriola, during the inauguration of the building on Tuesday at the VIS headquarters, Ojodu, Berger, commended the bank for the gesture.

Toriola said, “Sometime in October 2020, #EndSARS protests erupted in our dear state and part of its resultant effect is the loss of over N3.9bn investments and total destruction of this building as a result of the arson that accompanied the protest.

“As a worthy partner, Access Bank Plc took this project close to its heart and delivered this state-of-the-art facility to the state government.

“The commitment and dedication exhibited by the bank towards rebuilding the VIS annex office complex exemplifies the essence of Corporate Social Responsibility.”

The Executive Director of Access Bank, Iyabo Soji-Okusanya, said the bank considered it a privilege to rebuild the VIS office, noting that “private and public enterprises must continually work together to deliver the goals and aspirations that we have for the people of Lagos State.”

In his remarks, the Director of VIS, Akin-George Fashola, promised that the facility would enhance the dedication of the agency to better serve residents.
