Transfer: Atalanta coach advises Rasmus Hojlund on joining Manchester United

Atalanta manager, Gian Piero Gasperini has advised striker Rasmus Hojlund to reject a move to Manchester United this summer.

Hojlund has been linked with a move to Man United this summer after the Red Devils pulled out of the running to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Denmark international is a top priority target at Old Trafford but Man United have so far been unable to reach an agreement with Atalanta for the player’s signature.

However, Gasperini believes Man United would be signing a player with huge potential but feels the 20-year-old would be better to develop in Serie A for another year.

Asked if he believes Hojlund should spend another season with Atalanta amid interest from Man United, Gasperini was quoted by Metro UK as saying: “I think so, then after that it is difficult here too.

“He undoubtedly has great talent, but also great room for improvement. These things are visible in both senses, he must work to improve because he has the characteristics to become one of the strongest strikers in the world.”
