Transfer: Man Utd midfielder to leave Ten Hag’s side

Manchester United midfielder, Charlie Savage is set to leave the club to join League One side, Reading.

Savage captained Man United in their opening pre-season friendly against Leeds but will now leave the club on a permanent transfer.

Manchester Evening News reports that Man United have inserted a significant sell-on fee in the deal and would retain the right to match any bid for the 20-year-old in the future, as with similar deals for Zidane Iqbal and Ethan Laird earlier this summer.

The decision to sell Savage was made in the best interests of the player, who was also keen on a permanent move in order to progress his career.

His first-team pathway has become harder with the development of other academy talents in similar positions who are already training regularly with the first-team.

He made his debut for Man United in the Champions League against Young Boys in December 2021.
