2023 WWC: Sports Ministry stops NFF from sacking Super Falcons coach – Waldrum

The Ministry of Youth and Sports rejected a proposal by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to sack Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum last week, DAILY POST reports.

Waldrum and NFF engaged in a bitter war of words in the build up to the Super Falcons preparation for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The American tactician accused the Federation of lack of support, imposition of players and misappropriation of funds.

Waploaded scooped from a reliable source in the NFF that the football house took the decision to sack the 66-year-old last week but for the intervention of permanent secretary of the ministry of youth and sports who was against the move.

The decision, the ministry believed, would have adverse effects on the team’s performance in Australia and New Zealand.

Waldrum will be in the dugout when the Super Falcons take on Canada in their opening fixture at the World Cup on Friday morning.

The encounter at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium will kick off at 3.30 am Nigeria time.
