House of Reps confirm service chiefs

The House of Representatives on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of the service chiefs by President Bola Tinubu.

This followed the adoption of a report by the ad-hoc committee that screened the top military officers.

The chairman of the ad-hoc committee, Babajimi Benson thereafter submitted the report which was immediately adopted.

The service chiefs confirmed at the Committee of the Whole on Wednesday are Maj Gen Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff; Chief of Army Staff, Maj Gen Abiodun Lagbaja; Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla and Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff.

It would be recalled that President Bola Tinubu recently wrote the House of Representatives seeking confirmation of the Service Chief nominees.

The president’s request is in compliance with the provisions of Section 18(1) of the Armed Forces Act. Cap A20, Laws the Federation of Nigeria.
