Transfer: Chelsea in race to sign Japanese Goto

Chelsea are now in the race to sign Keisuke Goto from J2 League club Jubilo Iwata.

Daily Mail reports that multiple other European clubs other than Chelsea are queuing up to sign the 18-year-old Goto.

West Ham United, AFC Ajax, Feyenoord Rotterdam and Sevilla are all interested in the Japanese.

The Blues believe that the Japanese has the physical qualities and skills needed to be successful in the top flight of English football.

Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma, who helped the Seagulls qualify for Europe last season, also served as motivation for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

According to the report, Mitoma’s performance for Brighton shows that Japanese players could do well in the Premier League.

The Daily Mail’s report also adds that Japan’s impressive display at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar has turned heads across Europe.
