Physical planning agency decries attacks on officials

The Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority has condemned constant attacks on its officials by security personnel.

The agency, in a statement on Sunday, urged security officers stationed at construction sites to desist from attacking its officials while carrying out their lawful duties.

This came on the heels of an attack on some members of the agency’s monitoring and compliance unit on Saturday, the statement said.

LASPPPA urged property owners and developers to visit its office closest to them to redress any violation of physical planning laws immediately they are served contravention notices and not resort to violence after the property has been sealed.

The statement partly read, “LASPPPA has, once again, issued a strict warning to security personnel stationed at various properties, sites and construction places to desist from attacking its officials.

“The warning came on the heels of a recent attack on some members of the monitoring and compliance unit of the authority yesterday while carrying out their statutory duties.

“Property owners and developers are urged to visit LASPPPA office closest to them to redress any violation to physical planning permit laws once they are served contravention notices, instead of waiting for their properties to be sealed up on follow-up visits.”
