NMA donates foodstuffs, others to special students

The Edo State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association made donations of food items, toiletries, detergents and other to the Roseluyi Exceptional Students Academy school in Benin at the weekend.

This was done in line with Governor Godwin Obaseki’s request that all activities to mark his 66th birthday should be converted to donations to the school of special needs.

The doctors’ association commended the exemplary leadership of the state governor, which, they said, had continued to make life meaningful for the people including the underprivileged.

The NMA Chairman, Dr Udoka Umoisili, who was represented by the association’s Public Relations Officer, Dr Emeka Okoh, said the donated items were meant for the children’s upkeep and prayed that God should empower Obaseki to record more feats for the people of Edo State.

She said, “We are presenting this to the management of the school to help in catering for these children with special needs and at the same time we want to congratulate the Executive Governor of the state.”

Responding on behalf of the proprietor of the school, Rosemary Aluyi, the school’s administrator, Michael Gabriel, thanked the Edo NMA for considering the welfare of the students and assured the association that the items would be used judiciously.

She said, “We are excited and we are overwhelmed that the association of doctors in Edo State has deemed it fit to come and visit us in Roseluyi Exceptional Students Academy. We want to say thank you for coming.”
