Transfer: How Modric, Kroos convinced highly-rated midfielder to join Real Madrid

Newly signed Real Madrid midfielder, Arda Guler was convinced to make the move to the Santiago Bernabeu by Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

Both players called the midfielder and convinced him to join Real Madrid despite interest from Barcelona.

Real Madrid is adding new legs to their squad having watched the likes of Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio leave the Bernabeu this summer.

They have been able to bring in Guler, Jude Bellingham and Fran Garcia.

The 18-year-old Guler was signed from Fenerbahce for a fee of €18 million and also attracted the interest of Barcelona.

OK Diario reports that Barcelona’s sporting director Deco, travelled to Istanbul as they wanted to convince him to join the Catalan club.

That, however, didn’t become a reality as the Turkish wonderkid chose to join Real Madrid instead.

One of the things that persuaded him the most was receiving calls from Modric and Kroos, as the OK Diario reports
