Sanwo-Olu not running one-man show, Lagos replies Adegboruwa

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Mr Gboyega Akosile, has faulted the statement by a popular lawyer, Mr Ebun Adegboruwa (SAN), who accused the governor of running a ‘one man show’ since his re-election.

In a statement on Friday, Akosile said Sanwo-Olu was simply biding his time to constitute his cabinet, adding that the governor would form his cabinet soon.

Akosile noted that the constitution was clear about the number of days required for a governor to send his nominees for various cabinet offices to the state House of Assembly for legislative approval.

He said, “Governor Sanwo-Olu has only spent 39 days in office and therefore, has not flouted any law.

“Secondly, we must remind Mr Adegboruwa that Lagos remains a model state, where governance issues are taken very seriously and as such, his comparison of the state with other states he used in his submission is laughable.

“We also need to remind the erudite lawyer that Osun State Governor, Mr Ademola Adeleke, was sworn into office in November 2022, making it more than seven months before he sent his cabinet nominees to the Osun State House of Assembly.

“We must also enlighten Mr. Adegboruwa, that with or without the cabinet members at the moment, the wheel of governance is moving progressively in Lagos.”

Meanwhile, the World Bank and the Federal Government have commended the Lagos State Government for what they described as an efficient implementation of the agro-processing, productivity enhancement and livelihood improvement support project in the state.

According to a statement on Friday, the Task Team Leader of the World Bank Mission to Lagos, Dr Emmanuel Sene, disclosed this during the World Bank and Federal Government APPEALS Project 10th implementation support mission field visit to Badagry on Thursday.

Sene said, “For Lagos APPEALS Project, I want to congratulate them for what they did with the farmers and for organising a wonderful visit for us. Now we know exactly what is happening on the ground. Coming here, we have seen what is happening on the ground.”

In his address, the National Project Coordinator of APPEALS Project, Mohammed Jobdi, lauded the state’s implementation of the project by touching the lives of farmers in the state positively.

Also speaking, the state Project Coordinator, APPEALS Project, Mrs Oluranti Sagoe-Oviebo, noted that marketers come from Benin Republic and Togo to buy fish in Badagry, adding that with technologies and innovations provided for farmers by the APPEALS Project, Nigeria will soon be a major exporter of fish.
