Ego is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress, who came to prominence as a backup singer for the famous Nigerian singer Lagbaja. She is known for recording songs like “Far Away”, “Nothing for you”, and “Konko Below”.

Early Life

Born Nwakaego Ihenacho Ogbaro and raised in Imo before moving to Lagos where she had both her primary and secondary education.

She went to Central Primary School and Ikeja High School, GRA in Lagos and also proceeded to Lagos State University where she majored in Oublic Administration before she eventually dropped out.

Career

Ego had passion for singing and acting at a very tender age. She was inspired to sing listening to the likes of Peter Tosh, Jackson Five, Dolly Parton, Don Williams, and Onyeka Onwenu.

She came to the limelight as a backup singer for the famous Nigerian singer Lagbaja. They recorded hit songs like “Far Away”, “Nothing for you”, and “Konko Below”.

Ego went on a solo career in 2007 and formed a band named Indigo. She was signed as a Globacom ambassador in 2008, where she headlined events like the Glo ‘Borrow Me Data’. She also made appearance on Ndani’s TV session in 2013.

She released the lead single “I Believe” off her debut album “First Step”. She is credited for other songs such as Never Knew, Fall in Love, Amazing, Palava and many others.

Ego has performed with likes of Asa, Cobhams Asuquo, Weird Mc, Yinka Davies and many others. She has also worked with the likes of Tosin Martins, Blaise, Djinee, and Sunny Nneji.

She delved into acting and became known for her role as ‘Iyabo Kuti’ in the Showmax television series “Wura” starring alongside the likes of Ray Adeka, Martha Ehinome, Iremide Adeoye and so on.
