Sergio Aguero discusses future career move for Lionel Messi

Sergio Aguero has revealed that he is hoping to persuade Lionel Messi to follow one particular avenue later in his career.

Aguero and Messi have known each other since they were teenagers, coming through the Argentine national setup at the same time. They were part of the same side that won Olympic gold in 2008.

Messi recently confirmed that he will join MLS side Inter Miami when his PSG contract expires at the end of the month, snubbing a move to the Saudi Pro League and a return to Barcelona.

But Aguero, who retired from professional football in 2021 on the advice of doctors due to his cardiac health, has revealed to ESPN that he has another venture lined up for Messi in the future - joining his seven-a-side Kings League team.

"We haven't spoken about it. I think it's a little complicated at the moment with the schedule, but I hope one day he can play for us," Aguero said of Messi joining his team, Kunisports.

The Kings League is a seven-a-side competition devised by former Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Pique.

There are some unusual rules and novelties to the tournament to differentiate it from regular football. For example, yellow and red cards are punished with sin-bin eliminations and draws end with an unorthodox penalty shootout from the centre circle.

Teams are also able to use 'secret weapons' or 'jokers' once a game, with these stipulations ranging from a free penalty to the rolling of a large novelty die that determines how many players each team will have to finish the match with.

Aguero, who is one of a few former professionals to partake, said: "It's different to how I experienced the game as a professional. It's more about having fun and entertaining people. There are the novelty cards and we put on a bit of a show to entertain. It's very different to traditional football."

Aguero and ex-Spain captain Iker Casillas are among some of the league's player/presidents.

The Kings League dream of adding Messi to a talented group of stars to have played at least one game, including Ronaldinho, Andrea Pirlo and Andriy Shevechenko.
