Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa is a Nigerian military officer and the current Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).

President Bola Tinubu appointed him to the position in June 2023, and he will succeed General Lucky Irabor, who has held it since January 2021.

Maj. Gen. C.G Musa Career

After completing his secondary education, Musa was admitted into the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna State in 1986. He underwent intense and rigorous military training for five years as part of the 38 regular course during a time when the Nigerian military held political power in the country.

Upon completion of his training, in September 1991, Musa was commissioned into the Nigerian Army as a second lieutenant in the Infantry Corps, which is known for its challenging nature. Throughout his career, he excelled in various assignments and demonstrated his capabilities as a dedicated and skilled officer.

In 2021, Musa was redeployed to serve as the Commander of the Joint Task Force (North East) for Operation Hadin Kai. He held this position until his recent appointment to a new role.
