Kogi United Fc management makes U-turn, recalls 19 sacked players

The Management of Kogi United Football Club has recalled 19 sacked Players back to the club for next season.

DAILY POST recalls that the management had on Saturday 10th June 2023 announced the sack of the entire players following three successive relegations from the Nigeria National League.

In their last group match in the just concluded Nigeria National League season, Hypebuzz Fc of Abuja pummeled Kogi United 4:0 to worsen their problem in that season.

The Chairman of Kogi United Abdulmalik Isah had said the management has no choice but to send all players of the Club packing after a not too impressive Season.

In a new twist, the Chairman of the Club Abdulmalik Isah announced the recall of the 19 players after an exhaustive interaction with the Technical Crew of the Club and other Critical Stakeholders at his office, in Lokoja on Tuesday.

“I took that decision to sack all the players because it was the best decision to take at that material time. The performance of the players so far this Season has been below average and has fallen short of our expectations.

” We have decided to recall a few of the players who still have age, determination, dexterity and the desire to perform on their side back into the fold and we are also going to bring in young, energetic, determined and result Oriented players to start an aggressive restructuring of the Club ahead of next Season.

“For now, the Club has gone on a break after the Nigeria National League 2022/2023 Season came to an end and will announce a resumption date after the Eid El Adha Festivity” he added.
