Ministry trains LG workers in service delivery

The Office of Local Government Establishments and Training has held a training workshop for officers in the State Unified Local Government Service.

The training was intended to sharpen the skills of officers in capacity building, global best practices, and improved productivity, according to the Permanent Secretary, Office of Local Government Establishment and Training, Mrs Bibilomo Olushekun.

Declaring open the workshop held at NECA House Conference Hall, Agidingbi, Ikeja, on Tuesday, Olushekun stated that the demands of the populace were getting more sophisticated, hence the need to build capacity in order to serve residents.

“We are moving from the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda and going further because the demands of the populace are getting more sophisticated, we have to be more equipped and serve the good people of Lagos. How do we equip ourselves, we have to build capacity, learn new things and sharpen our skills.

“We are moving from generic training programmes to job-specific training programmes. This is in order to ensure that we have the necessary skills that can serve residents in line with global best practices,” Olushekun said.

Olushekun thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his commitment to workers’ capacity building, stating that the officers would make the best of the acquired skills.
