NYSC Monthly Allowance: Tete Promises To Pay Arrears

The chairman of Kuje area council, Hon. Ishaku Shaban Tete, has promised to offset the five months arrears of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) monthly allowance being owed corps members serving in the council.


Hon. Tete made this promise during the demonstration of biometric technology deployment by corps members in the council, soliciting for their patience over the delay of payment of their monthly stipends, explaining that the cash crunch in area council’s was responsible for the delay.


According to him, the cash crunch has badly affected operations in the area council so much that the council had to borrow N3 million to pay its staff.


He described the current crop of corps members serving in the council as hardworking, promising to do everything within his power to make sure the arrears of monthly allowance is cleared within the shortest possible time.


He said: “I promise to pay all your allowances. We have not been able to pay our staff due to lack of resources and I even had to borrow money to offset our staff salaries. I will pay you your allowances; we hope that the economy will improve so the council can also increase your salaries too.”


He commended the cordial relationship between the council and the corps members, urging them to remain dedicated and honest in executing their primary assignment in the council.


The council chair also sought residents’ patience, cooperation and support to his administration, restating his commitment to ensure rapid infrastructural development in the council.
