Bandits attack: Sokoto gov condoles with victims, donates cash

Forum 3 months ago

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, on Tuesday, visited the three communities that were attacked by bandits last Saturday.

The Governor was accompanied by his deputy, Idris Gobir, heads of security agencies in the state and the Sultan of Sokoto.

Speaking with the residents during the visit, the governor condemned the attacks as senseless and ungodly, assuring the people of the state that his government would not rest on its oar in restoring law and order in areas experiencing banditry.

He urged the residents to report any suspected informant in their midst and cooperate with the security operatives deployed to the area.

He however donated cash and grains to families of those who lost their lives during the attacks as well as those who lost their properties.

He also assured that his administration will pay the medical bills of those admitted to the hospital because of the injuries sustained during the attacks.

THE PUNCH reported that over 30 persons were killed in three villages in Tangaza local government area on Saturday. The attackers also burnt down houses and vehicles in the communities whose offences were their refusal to pay levies imposed on them.

The governor was accompanied by the former governor of the state and the leader of the APC in the state, Aliyu Wamakko, while the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, led other traditional rulers.
