Joseph Edward Penny Jr., also known as Joe Penny, is an American actor who was born to an American father and an Italian mother. Penny grew up in Marietta, Georgia, after his parents divorced when he was a child.

The television horror film “Deathmoon” (1978), Beau Galloway in the A.B.C. romantic drama film “The Girls In The Office” (1979), and Paul Cameron in another T.V. film, “The Gossip Columnist” (1980). Joe pursued more serious roles at the start of the next decade and rose to prominence with the role of Benjamin ‘Bugsy’ Siegel, which he portrayed not only in the N.B.C. crime drama mini-series “The Gangster Chronicles” but also in the film based on it, “Gangster Wars,” both in 1981, alongside Michael Nouri and Brian Benben. During the same year, he was also cast as Mr. Harding in the slasher film “Bloody Birthday,” Officer Phil Buchwald in the comedy “S.O.B.” and Simmons in the sci-fi “Lifepod,” all of which added a considerable amount to his net worth, and increased his popularity enormously. Besides that, he also guest-starred in such T.V. series as “Flamingo Road,” “Tucker’s Witch,” “Savage In The Orient,” etc.

Joe’s next major role came in 1984 when he was chosen to portray Nick Ryder in the N.B.C. detective series “Riptide,” which lasted for two seasons. When the filming ended, he landed the role of Robert McCay in the N.B.C. film “Perry Mason: The Case Of The Shooting Star” (1986) and featured as Edward Moran in the N.B.C. crime drama film “Blood Vows: The Story Of A Mafia Wife” (1987), which was followed by his appearance as Lloyd Murphy in the C.B.S. two-part drama series “Roses Are For The Rich,” the same year.

Joe became relatively inactive at the start of the next decade, appearing only as John Taylor in the T.V. film “Betrayed At 17” (2011) and as Sam in John Heath’s crime drama film “The Last Night Inn” in 2016, still increasing his net worth – he’s now appeared in nearly 80 film and T.V. titles.
