Tinubu’s inauguration: NADECO-RG hails world leaders, knocks Yoruba Nation agitators

A pro-democracy group, the National Democratic Coalition Renewal Group, has hailed the continued support from world leaders for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Alhaji Kassim Shettima, who are billed to be sworn in today, as Nigeria’s President and Vice President respectively.

This was as it condemned the Sunday attempt by Yoruba Nation agitators to take over Radio Nigeria in Ibadan, Oyo State and declare a parallel nation.

It described world leaders’ support for Tinubu as a welcome development and strong disapproval of the dissenting voices against Tinubu and Shettima’s inauguration today.

According to NADECO-RG, the world leaders’ support for Tinubu is a “clear indication of God’s hand in their emergence as next leaders of our great country.”

The group, in a statement by its National Leader, Prof. Atilade Adeeyo, after its meeting in Zaria, Kaduna State, advised the opposing camps “to eat the humble pie and accept that the election and inauguration of Tinubu and Shetima represent the will of God which no man is capable of truncating.”

He stated, “NADECORG wishes to use this medium to appreciate the world powers, President Joe Biden, the United Kingdom Government, the Chinese government and the Indian government among other notable world powers who have sent delegations to attend the inauguration on Monday, May 29, 2023, of our incoming president and vice-president.

“This laudable development and positive signals from the global community are welcome development given the unfolding political theatrics being staged by some undemocratic elements against the planned inauguration,” it said.

NADECORG said called on Yoruba Nationa agitators seeking to form a parallel government to perish the thought.

Adeeyo described the self-styled Yoruba Nation agitators as “victims of misdirected and misguided mentoring and should be properly tutored on the advantages of the unity of Nigeria irrespective of whose ox is gored.”

”Such anomaly is unwelcomed at a time like this when a leading figure in Yoruba race is about to lead the country and deliver dividends of democracy to all and sundry,”Adeeyo said.

“Agitation for secession now is a most unpatriotic and unthoughtful call especially coming from youths who claim to have Yoruba blood in their veins.

“All agitators are henceforth advised to perish the thought of dividing Nigeria and join hands with the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and Vice-president-elect, Kassim Shetima, to build a greater Nigeria where all ethnic nationalities will have their dreams of eldorado fulfilled. This is a promise that we believe shall be kept by these two great leaders,” the group said.
