No one can stop Tinubu’s swearing-in – Lagos APC

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has said that stopping Tinubu’s swear-in will be unconstitutional.

Recall that five residents of the Federal Capital Territory recently approached the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court for an order to halt the ceremony.

They had applied for an order restraining the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, any other judicial officer from swearing in any candidate in the February 25 presidential election as President or Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, until it was judicially determined with finality or in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution that such candidate had fulfilled the requirement of Section 134(2) (b) of the constitution.

Reacting in an interview with Sunday PUNCH, the Lagos State APC spokesman, Seye Oladejo, described their steps as “an exercise in futility”.

He expressed confidence that the swearing-in of Tinubu as president would be held unhindered.

According to him, it is against the provision of the constitution and precedence for a President-elect to emerge and not be sworn in.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, Yabagi Sani, has called for calm ahead of the swearing-in.

While also describing the steps to stop the swearing-in of the President-elect as “wishful thinking”, he stated that aggrieved parties should be allowed to exhaust all means available to them in line with the constitutional provisions.
