A group, Youth Progressive initiative in the North led by the President, Hon. Usman Shehu Aliyu, the Danmalikin Hausa, has thrown its weight behind the candidacy of Senator Godswill Akpabio as the Senate President and Senator Barau Jibrin, his deputy in the 10th National Assembly.

Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna on Saturday, the Youth Progressive Initiative in the North,an organisation existing since 2012 ,congratulated all Nigerians once more for the just concluded general elections, specifically the President elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Vice President elect, Senator Kashim Shettima.

The group reiterated support towards the success of the President elect and commended Nigerians for their patriotism before and after the General elections.

The Danmalikin Hausa said ” we praise the President elect for vocally expressing his wish for equity, justice and fairness to all Nigerians irrespective of region, religion, tribe or ethnicity.”

“With these , the Youth Progressive Initiative in the North, align and endorse the choice of Senator Godswill Akpabio as the 10th President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Senator Jibril Barau as the Deputy President of the 10th Senate.”

“Nigeria belongs to everybody and we have six zones, hence the need to zone Senate Presidency. The President elect assured Nigerians that his administration will be fair.We want all regions in the country to be carried along in the leadership of NASS.”

“We want the Senate Presidency to go to the South and the Deputy Senate Presidency to the North West. With this, every geo-political zone will be carried along.North West of course gave the highest vote, but for fairness, we want Nigeria to be for Nigerians, let everyone have a sense of belonging.”

“Bola Ahmed Tinubu calculates, he is an achiever and wants to carry everybody along. We are talking about Nigeria, we are talking about fairness and equity,” he said.
