Regional voice subscription: Lagos pushes South West to the top with 26,460,867

With the massive voice subscription of 26,460,867, Lagos State has led South West to top other geo-political zones in the Q4, 2022 Voice subscription index of the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics, NBS.

South west zone recorded 63, 541, 029 subscription, followed by North Central with 42,616, 911. Other zones like North West, South South, South East, North East and North East had: 42,616, 911, 40, 805, 145, 32, 514, 966, 21, 548, 669, and 21, 544, 848 respectively.

This is as the general NBS report said that Nigeria recorded a total number of 222,571,568 of active voice subscribers in the fourth quarter of 2022 from the 195,463,898 reported in Q4 2021.

This represents a 1.3 percent 13.87 percent on a quarter-on-quarter basis, this grew by 4.89 percent.

The NBS said: “The total number of active voice subscribers in Q4 2022 was 222,571,568 from the 195,463,898 reported in Q4 2021, indicating a growth rate of 13.87 percent. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, this grew by 4.89 percent.

“Also, in Q4 2022, the total number of active internet subscribers stood at 154,847,901 from 141,971,560 reported in Q4 2021, showing an increase of 9.07 percent.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, this grew by 1.35 percent.”

“On state profile analysis, Lagos State had the highest number of active voice subscribers in Q4 2022 with 26,460,867, followed by Ogun with 12,994,352 and Kano with 12,373,201.

“On the other hand, Bayelsa recorded the least with 1,571,692, followed by Ebonyi and Ekiti with 1,920,996 and 2,001,846 respectively. In addition, Lagos state had the highest number of active internet subscribers in Q4 2022 with 18,702,394, followed by Ogun with 9,206,614 and Kano with 8,470,131.

“On the other hand, Bayelsa recorded the least with 1,101,002, followed by Ebonyi and Ekiti with 1,264,825 and 1,474,970 respectively. However, MTN had the highest share of subscriptions in Q4 2022.”

Active internet subscription per zone

Also on internet subscription, South West had the highest with 44, 787, 635 and it is followed by North Central with the total number of 29, 609, 278 subscriptions.

Other zones that followed include: North West, South South, North East and South East with 28, 119, 575, 22, 506, 266, 14, 994, 213, and 14, 626, 124 respectively.

Porting activities by network

For porting activities by network, surprisingly, a total number of 2,829 lines ported into other lines whereas 2,829 lines also ported out.
