Ministry trains staff in communication strategy
The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has organised a three-day training for staff on communication skills and effective writing.
According to the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs Oyinade Nathan-Marsh, the training will enable the staff to be eloquent in speaking and prolific in writing, adding that the place of effective communication in public service could not be over-emphasised.
Nathan-Marsh, according to a statement issued by the state government, said this during the closing ceremony of the training held at STO Resource, Alausa Ikeja.
She said, “The public service thrives on communication. Whether inter-service or with external stakeholders, the effectiveness of public service communication is a critical factor in the measurement of government activities. Public servants must, therefore, possess excellent writing skills if the intentions of the government must be communicated effectively.”
The permanent secretary then urged the trainees to be prepared to bring to practice all they had learnt so as to display noticeable improvement in their various work schedules going forward.
One of the facilitators, Kemisola Jiboye, told the trainees to ensure self-improvement through learning, relearning and unlearning, stressing that learning was a continuous process and a journey that had no destination.
