The Blues are on the hunt for a new boss after parting ways with Graham Potter at the start of April. Frank Lampard has returned to Stamford Bridge on a caretaker basis until the end of the season.

Chelsea are doing their due diligence on a number of candidates and want to make sure the next appointment is not a misstep as it turned out to be with Potter.

Sources have confirmed to 90min former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain boss Pochettino has held talks with Chelsea in recent days.

The Argentine, who was a candidate to succeed Thomas Tuchel back in September, is open to joining the Blues, though equally would be willing to discuss a return to Spurs - fans of the north London side have loudly chanted his name at their last two home games.

One man no longer in consideration for the Chelsea job is Julian Nagelsmann, who surprisingly withdrew from contention on Friday. The German has been out of work since leaving Bayern Munich at the end of March.

Luis Enrique, one of Tottenham's top targets to replace Antonio Conte, had previously discussed the vacancy at Chelsea but is not considered a candidate.

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany is on the shortlist for both Chelsea and Spurs but is not seen as a main contender at this stage.
