Audu’s son faults Kogi APC gov primary, threatens lawsuit

Son of the late former Kogi State governor, Shuiabu Abubakar-Audu, has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress primary which produced Usman Ododo as the party standard-bearer for the November 11 governorship election.

Abubakar-Audu, who was an aspirant in the primary that held last Friday, described the primary as “a highly compromised and fraudulent process characterised by unprecedented irregularities.”

He urged the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.); the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; and the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, to intervene in the matter.

“My supporters and I are determined to ensure that justice is done, and this, we shall pursue to logical conclusion through the primary election appeal committee.

“The primary election of Friday did not hold in most ward centres as officials and material were not available.

“We shall not hesitate, if need be, to challenge the process in the court of law, as it is an established fact that when and if a party violates its own rules, its actions becomes a nullity,” Abubakar-Audu said.

But in a swift reaction, the state APC chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, said Abubakar-Audu’s claims were frivolous.

“The results of the election across the state speak for themselves in which Alhaji Ahmed Usman-Ododo emerged as winner,” he said.
