Delta APC ward chairman slumps, dies

The chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ward 9, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr Vincent Okokoje, is dead.

The PUNCH gathered that Okokoje slumped and died last Thursday.

Confirming the incident to journalists in Warri on Monday, the APC Ward 12 chairman, Gabriel Omorere, said Okokoje’s death “came as a shock to the APC in Warri South and Delta State in general.”

“We attended a meeting together at the residence of an APC leader in Warri South, Chief Ojogri, on Wednesday, along Warri/Sapele Road. We only got the news that he died on Thursday morning,” Omorere stated.

Omorere, who led a delegation of APC chairmen in Warri South LG on a condolence visit to the wife, children and family of Okokoje, said he would be greatly missed.

He described the deceased as “a gentleman who loved making peace among his colleagues,” adding that he was among the three ward chairmen who won their wards in the just concluded general elections.

He lamented that Okokoje’s passing had caused a very big vacuum within the APC in Warri South.

“I pray we have someone like him to work hard and move the party forward,” he said.
