CAN, govs, others peach love at Easter

The President, Christian Association of Nigeria, Archbishop Daniel Okoh; Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola; Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and others, on Sunday felicitated Christians over this year’s Easter celebration.

The CAN President, in a statement on Sunday, advised Nigerians to renew their commitment towards building a better Nigeria.

He said, “As a nation, Nigeria has faced many challenges in recent years, from insecurity and economic instability to social and political unrest.

“However, just as Christ rose from the dead and brought new life to the world, we too can rise above our challenges and start afresh.

“This Easter, let us all come together and renew our commitment to building a better Nigeria.”

The LP presidential candidate, Obi, in his message, wished Christians a happy celebration and prayed that the message and blessings of Christ’s resurrection would remain with them.

“Given that we are all united as brothers and sisters, and in our trust in the mercies and infinite benevolence of God Almighty, I urge all Nigerians, particularly the youths not to despair in the face of many challenges and tribulations that we are facing as a country,” Obi said.

Also, the CJN, Ariwoola wished “the Christian faithful a joyous Easter and the Muslim Ummah a rewarding Ramadan and happy Eid- el- Fitr.”

Also, the Abia State governor-elect, Dr Alex Otti, likened his victory at the March 18 governorship election to the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

In his message to Abia residents titled, “Abia is risen with Christ,” Otti stated, “This Easter is particularly special for me because it is the Easter following our victory at the polls where our people spoke eloquently and gallantly with their votes.

“Even when the evil forces that had held the state bound in the last 24 years rose once again to steal our victory, God in His infinite mercy said, no, and literally stood against them.”

Similarly, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig. Gen. Yushau Ahmed, urged corps members to sustain the spirit of harmony and tolerance in the discharge of their duties, and in furtherance of the Nigeria Project.

The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Martins, in his Easter message, called on all “leaders of different levels and positions to do away with narrow parochial, ethnic, religious interests so that we may be set on the path of greatness.”

Also, the Nigerian Bar Association, in a statement by its President, Mr Yakubu Maikyau (SAN), called on the Federal Government to intensify its efforts in the discharge of its constitutional responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the citizens.

“The bloodshed and other forms of criminality witnessed daily across the country is completely unacceptable,” the NBA said.
