Leicester opened talks with Marsch on Friday but, after coming close to agreement over the weekend, the American has now walked away from the process.

Marsch is understood to have wanted reassurances about the club's long-term plans, especially if they were relegated this season. He has now walked away from the opportunity after talking with his own coaching staff about the job.

Leicester had moved for Marsch after failing to persuade Graham Potter to walk straight into the job after he left Chelsea last week - the same weekend during which the Foxes parted company with Brendan Rodgers.

Since Rodgers left, Leicester have suffered back to back defeats to Aston Villa and relegation rivals Bournemouth. These defeats have left the club second bottom in the Premier League, two points off safety. They have now taken just one point from their last eight games.

Leicester insist that talks are ongoing with other candidates and it now remains to be seen if they go for a long-term appointment or a short-term appointment to just try and keep them in the top-flight.

This is the second Premier League job that Marsch has been close to taking in the last few months, after also talking to Southampton but he also failed to agree terms to take over at St. Mary's Stadium.
