How we defeated Enyimba – Akwa United coach, Ayeni

Akwa United head coach, Ayodeji Ayeni has attributed his team’s victory against Enyimba to his players ability to interpret his instructions on the field of play.

Ayeni also hinted that the players he brought on in the second half contributed to the victory.

The Promise Keepers kept pressure on Group A leaders, Remo Stars with a hard-fought 1-0 win at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Uche Collins nodded home powerfully from James Ajako’s cross on 73rd minutes to hand Akwa United all three points in the game.

Ayeni said his team prepared very well for this game and got their reward.

“Akwa United versus Enyimba is always a tough game and we didn’t expect an easy game. Having dropped points at home, they came here to try and get point(s), so we prepared tactically, psychologically, and physically,” Ayeni said during his post match briefing.

“We were able to play our pattern and the boys were able to interpret my instructions. The changes we made in the second half gave us victory because we needed to attack more,” he added.

Enyimba are now winless in their last three games with hopes of a top three finish now dwindling.
