Tinubu’s victory hard-earned, says group

A youth group, the Nigerian Youths Council, has said the victory of President-elect, Bola Tinubu, during February 25, 2023, presidential election was hard-earned.

The group made the assertion during a birthday dinner in honour of Tinubu organised in collaboration with the Tinubu/Shettima Movement at the weekend.

The PUNCH reports the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Tinubu, who is the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, winner of the presidential election.

Tinubu, a former Lagos State governor, was declared the president-elect after the 70-year-old polled 8,794,726 votes to win the 2023 presidential election.

Tinubu won the election ahead of other contenders — the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar; the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi; and the New Nigeria Peoples Party candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Speaking at the event, the Vice President of Nigeria Youth in Politics, Olufowobi Olanrewaju Desmond, said the former Lagos governor’s victory during the election was hard-earned.

According to him, Tinubu’s victory is a victory for the Nigerian youths and we must appreciate the Nigerian youths for their contributions to the emergence of Tinubu as the president-elect.

“We’re celebrating Asiwaju’s birthday, not just the birthday but also his victory because we believed it wasn’t Asiwaju’s victory, it was the Nigerian youths’ victory.

“If you can recall the efforts that we made during the electioneering period in this country. We went to nooks and crannies of this country campaigning to people who are dogged and people who already hold a position against this person for no reason it’s always very tense and very difficult but we broke the shackles.

“That’s why we’re having this birthday as well as the victory party which will come up by April 29,” Desmond said.

Also, the NYI Coordinator, Adetokunbo Adeshina, said the president-elect and his vice, Kashim Shettima, were round pegs in the round hole.

“We don’t have a spare tire. We have two presidents for one. We have one that, when the other one is doing something, can focus on another thing.

“So, for the first time, we have two people that can be president in president and vice. So, beyond religion, beyond ethnicity, I think Nigeria has been given a gift of two people that can take this country where it needs to be,” Adeshina said.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of AS Wonder Home and Properties, Dr Agbi Omobamidele, pledged to donate 150 cows to the upcoming mega birthday and victory celebration for Tinubu.

The group explained that plans are underway for mega birthday party for Tinubu, which will be done simultaneously in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
