ASUP asks FG to dismiss five rectors sacked by court

This was contained in a letter written to the Education Minister, Mallam Adamu Adamu, and signed by ASUP President, Anderson Ezeibe. According to the union, the removal of the five Rectors would be in accordance with the court order sacking them because they were not statutorily qualified to hold the position in the first place.

The five rectors are, Dr. Terlumun Utser of Federal Polytechnic, Wannune, Benue State; Prof. Edwin Onyeneje of Federal Polytechnic, Ohodo, Enugu State; and Prof. Edward Ntue Okey of Federal Polytechnic, Ugep, Cross River State.

Others are Dr. Zakari Mukailu Ya’u of Federal Polytechnic, Shendam, Plateau State, and Prof Garba Mohammed Ngala of Federal Polytechnic Monguno, Borno State.

The union maintained that its position that none of the five rectors was qualified to be appointed as rector has been affirmed by the industrial court, hence they should be removed.
