Abba was born on January 5, 1963, in Gaya Local Government Area, Kano State, to Malam Kabiru Yusuf and Malama Khadijatul-Naja’atu. He attended Sumaila Primary School between 1968 and 1975.

He then attended Government Secondary School Dawakin Tofa before transferring to Government Secondary School Lautai in Gumel, where he graduated in 1980.

Crowdfunding allegation

Abba was rumored to have requested a thousand naira (N1,000) donation from members of the general public in September 2022 to fund his campaign.

In a statement released to the media by his aide, Sanusi Bature, he denied the rumor.

He claimed the “misinformation” is an attempt to smear his principal’s reputation.

We wish to inform the good people of Kano State, particularly members of our great party, the NNPP, to disregard the content of the video as a mere campaign of calumny orchestrated by some ill-behaved individuals within the opposition political circle, Mr Bature said in the statement.
