Both Ratcliffe and Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani were granted extra time to lodge their offers after failing to submit their proposals before the deadline on Wednesday evening.

An INEOS spokesperson has now confirmed that the revised bid from their camp has been submitted.

"Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS can confirm we have submitted a revised bid," a statement read.

Ratcliffe was recently pictured at Old Trafford as he met with United officials for a presentation about the club, after which the decision was made to raise his bid closer to the Glazer family's initial asking price of £6bn.

The British billionaire has, however, already warned the Glazers that he will not pay a 'stupid price' for the club.

Confirmation of Ratcliffe's renewed bid comes on the same day that Finish businessman Thomas Zilliacus also claimed to have submitted an offer.

Zilliacus, who publicly valued the club at $3.9bn, has pledged to finance half of the takeover and urged fans from across the globe to donate and fund the other 50% to give them a controlling say in the club.
