Former Governor of Enugu state, Chimaroke Nnamani has been lambasted on social media after he had ranted about Peter Obi following his loss to Labour Party candidate, Kelvin Chukwu.
Recall that Nnamani was defeated by Chukwu for the Enugu East senatorial seat.
In his tweets, Chimaroke claimed that Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has set the Igbo political trajectory 24 years back. He also claimed that Peter Obi served a “devious opium” to Christians within sections of Nigeria and to Igbo domiciled in different sections of Nigeria which is wicked and dangerous.
The former Senator also lashed out apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohaneze, who he claimed “miscalculated”.
Read his tweets below;
"Peter "Gringory" Obi has set the Igbo political trajectory 24 years back.He has become a twin Blight &Scourge on the Land. His devious Opium served to Christians within sections of Nigeria and to Igbo domiciled in different sections of Nigeria is wicked and dangerous.
"The Oha Na Eze.Grown elders who kept quiet while the goats labored tethered will live to regret their political miscalculations. As Governor, I knew they were essentially inert. Coming to Enugu at long weekends to catch fun with young girls in the guise of "Nkpuke""
"These Igbo leaders including "Asoebi" Governors quite unlike my '99 class. They danced while Igbo Land burnt. They lacked the " Liver"to condemn "sit at home" nor condemn the killings. They cowered at Peter Gringory Obi message of hate, bile and incitement. They failed!
"Governors,LG Chairmen failed 100 percent.Ordinary water unavailable in cities.Unemployment, Pollutants and "Rubbish " living house to house in competition with our people.Massive public neglect gave fertile ground for Peter Gringory Obi to plant his message of Hate.
"Igbo leaders watch as vulnerable and ignorant Igbo youth bait other Nigerians. Hostile to their host communities.Doing business in Lagos and describing it as " No man's land"Politically displacing the Gwari the owners of FCT and yet doing business in their land.
“6 million votes! What next?A trophy for Mr Obi. He has to go to school to learn good manners on living with neighbors. Building confidence and trust. Not abuse, threat and divisive language.Christians against Muslims. Igbo against fellow Nigerians.”
Here are some tweets gathered by DAILY POST on Twitter:
@IamAsiwaju1, “I hope those who abused us will listen and learn also. I don’t know who can be more Igbo than you Sir. I only wish and pray an Igbo man will become Nigeria’s president in our time.”
@vic_okafor, “You Sir, lost your reelection because your people lost confidence in you. I don’t see any correlation between your loss and @PeterObi. Please accept the defeat and channel your ideas to other parts of your endeavours. It’s a new era. Things will be done differently henceforth!”
@ogbonz, “Sir, it seems you don’t realise that this kind of rhetoric does not work anymore ….You are engaging a different generation. This is not 1999.”
@christo02463786, “Sir, your personality as an Igbo man connotes more than what I see you do now. Picking on Obi is quite unfortunate. You may want to do that to market yourself to Asiwaju. Good. As you have the right of speech, remember, Igbos have the right to live and exist in Nigeria.”
@sirjaay, “You didn’t lose because of Peter Obi. The poor performance of PDP in Enugu set the stage for this loss. I voted for you in previous elections but decided I wouldn’t this time, even before the PO wave reached its crescendo. I think you should accept the loss quietly and move on.”
@scofield536, “I Have so much respect for you, but I wouldn’t ignore or stand with you in this your opinion, the youth chose Peter obi to represent them because his message was a message of hope not hate. Am shocked with your verbal utterances against Peter obi, you are the one inciting hate.”
@stanley38706947, “With all due respect Sir, I cherish you so much because you worked when you were the governor of Enugu state, but you know the truth about the presidential election that @PeterObi won the election and it was rigged in Favour of APC. I am surprised you are saying this.”
@princess_amaaca, “Now you have lost to LP. Why are you angry with @PeterObi I thought you said nobody can remove you from that seat. Obi is our choice.”
